Turkish service workers depend on tips — but the foreign-tourist convention has drifted enough that most guests now either over-tip or skip entirely. Here is what is normal.
Private chauffeur transfer (airport → hotel)
Standard tip is €5-10 per car (not per person) for an airport-to-hotel run. A Vito for a family of seven would usually see €10. €15-20 for an unusually long route (e.g. Antalya to Kalkan, 215 km) or if the driver helped with multiple bags.
Day-tour driver-guide
€20-30 per car for a half-day, €40-50 for a full day. If the driver also acted as a guide (interpreted at sites, recommended lunch), round up by 25%.
What currency?
Euros are universally accepted and preferred — drivers can spend them as easily as Turkish Lira and find them easier to count for accounting. USD and GBP also fine. Turkish Lira works too.
Card tipping
Most car-payment terminals do not have a tip field. If you pay by card, hand a cash tip separately. Always optional.
