Aspendos Opera & Ballet Festival — how to plan the perfect evening

A 2,000-year-old theatre still hosts world-class opera every June-September. How to do it right.

Share

The Aspendos International Opera & Ballet Festival happens every summer in the best-preserved Roman theatre in the Mediterranean. Seeing Aida or Madama Butterfly under stars in a 7,000-seat antique cavea is unforgettable.

Tickets

Released in April through the festival website and Biletix.com. Prices €30-90. Central terrace seats are best for sight-lines; the upper tiers are romantic but acoustically subtler.

Bring a cushion and a layer

The ancient stone benches are flat and unforgiving. Bring a thin cushion (or rent one at the gate). Even in July the night cools to 22 °C after a hot day — a thin layer keeps you comfortable through Act III.

Transfer logistics

Aspendos sits 45 km from Antalya, 25 km from Belek, 45 km from Side. Performances start 21:00 and end around 23:30-00:00. We schedule pickup 90 min before start; the driver waits in the dedicated lot for the return run.

Pair it with a Side sunset

Many of our guests use the late afternoon for a Temple of Apollo sunset (40 min from Aspendos) and a light dinner in a Side fishing village before the opera.
