Driving in Antalya — should you rent a car or hire a chauffeur?

When self-driving makes sense, when it backfires, and the hidden costs first-time renters miss.

A rental Fiat 500 from AYT runs €25/day in low season. A chauffeur day with us is €200. So why does anyone hire a chauffeur? Here is the honest comparison.

Rent if…

  • You are staying 7+ days at one base and want to explore the coast slowly.
  • Your group is 2-3 with light luggage.
  • You are comfortable with aggressive Mediterranean lane discipline.
  • Your hotel has free parking (most do).

Hire if…

  • You are visiting 3-5 days and want to maximise sights, not figure out parking.
  • You are 5+ pax with luggage.
  • You want to drink wine at the winery, beer at lunch, raki at dinner.
  • You are pregnant, with small children, or have mobility issues.
  • You want a guide-driver who knows the back roads to Aspendos.

The hidden rental costs

  • Mandatory CDW insurance — usually €10-15/day extra.
  • Petrol return — full-to-full or eats a €30 "service fee".
  • Speed cameras — every Antalya highway has them; tickets reach the rental company 4 weeks later with a €15 admin fee on top.
  • Parking in old town — impossible. €5 lot fees in Side, none nearby in Kaleiçi.
