The town centre is about 6 km from Dalaman Airport (DLM), roughly a 10-minute drive. A private SooTransfer meets you at arrivals and takes you straight there or on to your resort.
Dalaman is mainly a gateway town rather than a beach resort, but it's a handy, affordable base for rafting, Akkaya Valley and nearby beaches, and is greener and quieter than the busier coastal towns.
Rafting runs from April to October. Water is highest and most thrilling in April and again after autumn rains in September–October, while summer offers calmer, warmer runs suited to beginners.
Sarıgerme is about 20 minutes away and Göcek roughly 25–30 minutes. The simplest option is a pre-booked private transfer that meets you in the terminal, with no waiting or shared stops.
Sultaniye hot springs sit on Lake Köyceğiz about 25 km from the airport, near Dalyan, and the free Kapıkargın sulphur pools are right by the airport itself.
