About Kepez

About Kepez

Kepez is the biggest residential district of Antalya, sprawling north from the airport ring road. Mostly long-stay apart-hotels for business travellers and Akdeniz University Hospital visitors.

Everyday, lived-in Antalya rather than postcard Antalya. Kepez is residential and unpretentious, a patchwork of apartment neighbourhoods, busy local markets, tea gardens and big shopping centres, all set inland against the foothills of the Taurus. The standout exception is Düdenbaşı, where a genuine waterfall and its green park drop a pocket of nature right into the middle of city life. You come here to feel the rhythm of a real Turkish city, not to lie on a beach.

Best season
Spring (April–May) is the sweet spot: mild weather, fewer crowds and the Upper Düden Waterfall at its fullest as Taurus snowmelt feeds the river. Early summer keeps the falls strong, while the shady park and waterfall cave make even hot July and August bearable. Autumn is pleasant and quiet; winter is cool and low-key, with surprisingly steady water flow and the calmest park visits of the year.
Hidden gem · The cave behind the falls
Most visitors photograph the Upper Düden cascade from the front and leave. Follow the path down and around and you can step into the small cave tucked behind the falling water, looking out through a shimmering veil with the roar all around you. Go early on a weekday morning and you may have this cool, mossy hideaway almost to yourself.
What Kepez is famous for

Six reasons people choose Kepez

The standout features that set Kepez apart from every other Antalya region.

💧
Upper Düden Waterfall
Kepez's signature sight sits in Düdenbaşı, where the Düden River drops around 20 metres into a leafy park. A walkway leads behind the curtain of water into a shallow cave, and the spray keeps the whole place cool even in high summer.
🏘️
Antalya's largest district
Inland and sprawling, Kepez is the biggest district in Antalya province by both area and population. It is residential at heart, full of family apartment blocks, neighbourhood markets and everyday Turkish life rather than resort glitz.
🛒
Big-box shopping
Mall of Antalya and the connected Deepo Outlet form one of the Mediterranean's largest retail hubs, right by the airport. Erasta's semi-open mall and Agora with its IKEA round out a district built for serious shopping.
🦁
Antalya Zoo
Tucked into the Kepezaltı picnic grounds, the city's zoo spreads across a large wooded site with roughly a thousand animals. It is a municipal favourite, very affordable, and a reliable half-day out for families with kids.
✈️
Next to the airport
Kepez wraps around the northern and inland edge of the city, putting most of it within a short hop of Antalya Airport (AYT) and an easy run into the old town and seafront. Quick in, quick out.
🌲
Parks and green escapes
From Kepez City Forest with its shaded picnic tables to KepezPark Varsak and its fairytale-themed Masalpark, the district leans hard into green space, walking paths and weekend family gatherings under the pines.

Trip tricks

Travel tips for Kepez transfers

What we tell every guest before they fly in. Save these on your phone before landing.

🏖️
Kepez has no beach
This is an inland district, so for sea and sand you'll head to Konyaaltı or Lara, both a short drive or tram ride away. Plan beach days as day trips out of Kepez.
🚆
Use the Antray tram
The T3 Varsak–Müze line runs right through Kepez and links to the old town and bus station. For Düden, ride to the Şelale stop and walk about a kilometre to the falls.
👟
Wear grippy shoes at Düden
Spray makes the walkways and the cave path slick, especially in spring when the flow is heaviest. Skip the flip-flops and keep cameras and phones away from the mist.
💳
Carry some cash
Cards work at malls and bigger spots, but small lokantas, tea gardens, park kiosks and the waterfall entrance often run smoother with Turkish lira in hand.
FAQ

Kepez transfer · frequently asked

Quick answers about transfers, distance and what to expect on arrival.

How far is Kepez from Antalya Airport?

Most of Kepez sits close to AYT. The Düdenbaşı waterfall area is roughly 13 km away, about a 20-minute drive in normal traffic, while parts of Kepez near the airport and Mall of Antalya are even quicker. A private transfer drops you straight at your door without changes.

Is there a private transfer from Antalya Airport to Kepez?

Yes. SooTransfer runs private door-to-door transfers from AYT to any address in Kepez, from waterfall-side guesthouses to apartments in Varsak or hotels near the malls. Your driver meets you in arrivals and takes you directly there, no shared stops along the way.

Does Kepez have a beach?

No. Kepez is an inland district about 10–12 km from the coast, so it has parks and a waterfall rather than a shoreline. For the beach you can reach Konyaaltı or Lara in a short drive or by tram, making Kepez a quieter, cheaper base with the sea still within easy reach.

How do I get from Kepez to the Düden Waterfall?

The Upper Düden Waterfall is in Düdenbaşı within Kepez itself, so it's usually a short ride away. The T3 Antray tram stops at Şelale, from which it's about a one-kilometre walk, or your transfer driver can take you to the entrance directly. Entry to the park is paid.

Is Kepez a good area to stay in Antalya?

It suits families, long-stay visitors and budget-minded travellers who want real city life, easy airport access, big shopping and green parks over resort facilities. If you're set on beachfront hotels and nightlife, Lara or Konyaaltı fit better, but Kepez offers space, value and a genuine local feel.
