Miniatürk squeezes an entire country into one open-air park on the Golden Horn shore at Sütlüce. Opened in 2003 across some 60,000 square metres, it displays around 139 finely detailed models at 1/25 scale: Hagia Sophia, the Maiden's Tower and the Bosphorus Bridge stand a few steps from Cappadocia's fairy chimneys, Mount Nemrut's stone heads and Ottoman-era landmarks from beyond today's borders. It is one of the largest miniature parks in the world and one of Istanbul's easiest family wins — kids race between the mini train, maze and play areas while adults quietly scout which real sites to visit next. Sütlüce sits off the tram and metro lines, so arriving is the only awkward part — unless you ride door to door.
