About Adrasan

About Adrasan

Adrasan is the last quiet bay before the Lycian peninsula closes off — 110 km from Antalya Airport, reached by a winding mountain road. Small family hotels, a dive harbour, and a 2 km arc of pebble beach.

Slow, green and gloriously low-key. Adrasan is the antidote to Antalya's big resort strips: a fishing-and-farming bay where days drift between the shallow sea, a shaded riverside lunch and an early-evening stroll along the harbour. Families, hikers, divers and couples come for quiet rather than nightlife, and the loudest sound is usually the cicadas in the pines.

Best season
Late May to early October is prime time, with warm, calm seas best from June through September and Suluada boats running daily. April, May and October are ideal for the Lycian Way and the Gelidonya hike, when temperatures are mild and the trails are quiet. Winter is very peaceful but many pensions and boat operators close.
Hidden gem · The Walk to Gelidonya Lighthouse
Follow the Lycian Way out of the south end of the bay and climb through the pines toward Cape Gelidonya. After a moderate few hours you reach a lonely 1930s lighthouse perched above the sea, looking out over the Beş Adalar (Five Islands). The view here was once voted among the most beautiful in Türkiye, and on most days you will have it almost to yourself. Carry plenty of water and start early; there is no shade or shop at the cape.
What Adrasan is famous for

Six reasons people choose Adrasan

The standout features that set Adrasan apart from every other Antalya region.

🏖️
A Quiet Crescent Bay
Adrasan curves around a roughly two-kilometre crescent of golden sand and fine pebble, sheltered by pine-clad hills that fall almost to the waterline. The sea is calm, shallow and aquarium-clear, with none of the loud beach bars you find further north.
Suluada Boat Trips
Adrasan's harbour is the launch point for day trips to Suluada, the uninhabited 'Maldives of Türkiye'. Boats usually leave mid-morning and return late afternoon, anchoring in turquoise coves with swimming and snorkelling stops along the way.
🥾
The Lycian Way
The famous long-distance trail runs straight through Adrasan. The coastal stretch toward the Gelidonya lighthouse is one of the most scenic day sections in Lycia, climbing through dense pine forest with sweeping views of the bay and the offshore islands.
🤿
Clear-Water Diving
Small dive schools work the bay and the waters off Suluada and Cape Gelidonya. Reefs, drop-offs and caves like Yarasalı sit in exceptionally clear water, making this a calm, uncrowded spot for both first dives and experienced divers.
🏡
Small Family Pensions
There are no high-rise resorts here. Adrasan is built around family-run guesthouses, wooden bungalows and small boutique hotels, many tucked among the pines or beside the creek, where owners often cook breakfast and dinner themselves.
🌿
Riverside & Pine Setting
The Adrasan creek winds down to the bay, and several garden restaurants are built on wooden platforms right over the cool, running water. Between the river, the forest and the mountains, the whole village feels green and unhurried.
What to do

Things to do in Adrasan

A short-list our drivers and dispatchers recommend after dropping guests at their hotel.

🐟
Take a Suluada Day Trip
Join a boat from the harbour to Suluada and its surrounding bays. Expect several swimming and snorkelling stops in clear turquoise water, a lunch on board, and a slow, sun-soaked day on deck. Bring a hat, water and reef-safe sunscreen.
🥾
Hike a Lycian Way Section
Walk part of the Lycian Way from the village. The coastal section toward Gelidonya is the classic choice; the inland route over the hills connects to Olympos. Both reward you with pine forest, sea views and almost no crowds.
🤿
Dive or Snorkel the Bay
Book a session with a local dive centre to explore the reefs, caves and clear waters around Suluada and Cape Gelidonya. The calm, sheltered bay also makes Adrasan a gentle place to try snorkelling straight off the beach.
🚣
Paddle the Calm Water
Because the bay is so sheltered and waveless, it is excellent for kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. Glide along the shoreline in the early morning before the day-trip boats stir the water and the heat builds.
🍽️
Lunch Over the River
Eat at one of the garden restaurants built on wooden platforms above the Adrasan creek. Trout, mezze and grilled meat are served in deep shade with your feet near the cool running water, a local ritual on hot afternoons.
🔥
Day-Trip to Olympos & Chimaera
Adrasan is close to ancient Olympos and the eternal flames of the Chimaera (Yanartaş) near Çıralı. Combine the riverside ruins, a turtle-nesting beach and the natural fires that have burned on the mountainside for millennia.

🗼
Gelidonya Lighthouse
A solitary lighthouse from the 1930s on a dramatic cape at the southern end of the Lycian Way, overlooking the scattered Five Islands. Reached only on foot, it offers one of the finest sea views on the whole coast.
🏝️
Suluada Island
An uninhabited islet nicknamed the 'Maldives of Türkiye' for its pale sand and luminous water, fed by mineral springs beneath the seabed. It is reachable only by boat from Adrasan and nearby harbours.
🏛️
Ancient Olympos
A short drive north, the romantic ruins of Olympos lie scattered through a wooded river valley that opens onto a long pebble beach, blending Lycian and Roman remains with shady, overgrown paths.
🔥
Chimaera (Yanartaş)
Above Çıralı, natural flames seep from the rocky hillside and have burned continuously for thousands of years. Visit at dusk, when the fires glow brightest against the dark mountain.

Travel tips for Adrasan transfers

What we tell every guest before they fly in. Save these on your phone before landing.

🚗
Pre-Book Your Transfer
Adrasan sits off the main highway down a winding mountain road, and public transport requires a change at Kumluca plus a dolmuş. A pre-booked private transfer from AYT runs door to door in around an hour and forty minutes and saves a lot of waiting.
💵
Carry Some Cash
Small pensions, beach sunbeds, market stalls and boat operators often prefer cash, and card acceptance can be patchy. Draw out Turkish lira before you arrive, as ATM options in the village are limited.
👟
Bring Water Shoes
The beach is mostly soft sand but has pebbly and rocky patches, and parts of the seabed are stony. Water shoes make swimming and wading much more comfortable, especially for children.
🌅
Plan Around Boat Times
Suluada boats typically leave in the morning and return in the late afternoon, so allow a full day for the trip. Hikers should start early to beat the midday heat and carry plenty of water on the shadeless coastal sections.
FAQ

Adrasan transfer · frequently asked

Quick answers about transfers, distance and what to expect on arrival.

How far is Adrasan from Antalya Airport (AYT)?

Adrasan is roughly 100 to 105 km southwest of Antalya Airport. By car it is about 1 hour 40 minutes, mostly along the D400 coastal highway before a winding final stretch down to the bay. A private transfer is the most direct way, taking you door to door without changes.

Is there a direct bus or public transport from the airport to Adrasan?

There is no direct public service. By bus you would travel from Antalya to Kumluca and then take a local dolmuş (minibus) to Adrasan, which involves changes and waiting and can take much longer than driving. For convenience and luggage, most visitors choose a private airport transfer.

How long does a private transfer from AYT to Adrasan take?

A private door-to-door transfer typically takes around 1 hour 40 minutes, depending on traffic on the Antalya ring road and the season. The route is scenic, hugging the coast before the descent into the bay through the pine forest.

Is Adrasan good for families with young children?

Yes. The bay is sheltered, calm and shallow with no strong waves, which makes it one of the safer beaches on the coast for children. The relaxed, low-rise village atmosphere and family-run pensions also suit families looking for a quiet holiday.

Can I do a Suluada boat trip and still get my transfer the same day?

It is tight. Suluada trips usually take the whole day, returning in the late afternoon, so it is best to keep boat days separate from your travel days. If your flight is in the evening, talk to your transfer provider in advance so pickup is timed safely after the boat returns.
