Antalya's top 7 sunset spots — by a driver who has seen all of them

Hıdırlık Tower, the Karpuzkaldıran cliff, Tahtalı summit, Konyaaltı pier, Aspendos amphitheatre, the Yıvlı Minaret skyline, and the one local sunset spot tourists never find.

Antalya faces west into the Mediterranean — every sunset is a free show. But the angle, the foreground and the season change which spot wins on any given night. Seven sunsets, ranked from a driver who has parked guests at all of them.

1. Hıdırlık Tower (Karaalioğlu Park cliff)

The classic. Ancient Roman lighthouse, Mediterranean cliff drop, Taurus mountains across the bay. Free, accessible, always crowded. Arrive 45 minutes early for a good spot.

2. Karpuzkaldıran cliff (Düden Lower Falls)

Watch the sun set behind the Mediterranean while a 40-metre waterfall drops into it next to you. Lara coastal park, free entry. Less crowded than Hıdırlık — locals' first choice.

3. Tahtalı summit (2,365m)

Cable car to the top of the highest local peak. Sun sets over the Mediterranean from above the clouds. Restaurant at summit. Last car back: 19:30 summer. €35 round-trip per person.

4. Konyaaltı pier

Long beachfront promenade with cafes facing west — order a coffee, watch the show. Crowd is mixed locals + tourists. Free, no need to time arrival.

5. Aspendos amphitheatre

Sit in the upper tier of the Roman theatre as the sun sets behind the stage backdrop. Festival nights only (June-September); restricted access otherwise. The single most-magical Antalya sunset experience.

6. Yıvlı Minaret skyline (Kaleiçi rooftop)

Book a rooftop terrace dinner (Vanilla Restaurant or Stella Bistro) — the silhouette of the Yıvlı fluted minaret against the Mediterranean sky is the city's most-photographed evening view.

7. The locals' secret — Geyikbayırı plateau

20 km west of Antalya, a high karst plateau famous for climbing. Sun sets across the entire Antalya bay, with you above and the city lights starting to flicker below. Bring food and a jacket; nothing here but the view. Free, accessible by car only.
