Gazipaşa vs Antalya Airport — which one to fly into

Two airports, very different experiences. A side-by-side based on what we see day in, day out.

Share

Antalya Airport (AYT) handles 90% of regional traffic, but the much smaller Gazipaşa-Alanya (GZP) makes sense for many Alanya, Side and even Belek visitors. Here is when each wins.

Distance to your hotel

  • Belek: AYT 35 km · GZP 175 km — AYT is much better.
  • Side: AYT 65 km · GZP 80 km — AYT is slightly closer.
  • Manavgat: AYT 80 km · GZP 65 km — GZP wins.
  • Alanya: AYT 125 km · GZP 45 km — GZP is the obvious choice.
  • Mahmutlar (east Alanya): AYT 145 km · GZP 35 km — GZP every time.

Crowds and queues

AYT in July can mean 45 minutes at passport control. GZP rarely exceeds 10 minutes even at peak. Baggage out in 15 minutes at GZP vs 25-40 at AYT.

Flight choice

AYT serves every European charter and most major airlines. GZP is mainly Pegasus, SunExpress and seasonal UK charters. If you have direct-flight options to both — same airline, similar price — GZP almost always gives a less stressful arrival.

Transfer pricing

Our fixed-price Mercedes from GZP to Alanya is about €30 cheaper than from AYT for the same vehicle — the road is much shorter.
