Uçhisar Castle

Uçhisar Castle is a colossal rock citadel — the highest point of Cappadocia — rising above the village of Uçhisar and visible from almost everywhere in the region. For centuries locals honeycombed it with tunnels, rooms and dovecotes; today a short, steep climb brings you to a summit terrace with a full 360° panorama across Göreme's valleys to Mount Erciyes on the horizon. The Pigeon Valley (Güvercinlik) walking trail starts right below, so you can pair the view with one of Cappadocia's loveliest hikes.
