Antalya Airport runs a tight ship for licensed taxis, but freelancers still try their luck — especially with first-time visitors who look tired. Here is how to avoid the small stings.
Three quick checks
- A real airport taxi is bright yellow with a meter ("taksimetre") visible on the dashboard. No yellow, no taxi.
- Licensed taxis pick up only from the marked taxi rank — never inside the arrivals hall.
- A pre-booked transfer driver carries a printed name sign with the guest's exact name, not a brand banner.
The "I will help with your luggage" trick
Inside the hall, someone offers to wheel your suitcase to the taxi rank "to help". At the rank they hand you to a friend who takes you in an unmarked car and charges a "luggage surcharge" of €30 plus the inflated fare. The genuine taxi attendant wears a printed lanyard issued by the airport.
What to do if you are not sure
Walk back inside, find the visitor information desk on Level 0 (the one with the airport logo, not a private booth), and ask them to call your reservation through. Or message us — we answer in under five minutes.
